Speciation and quantification of clay minerals including:

• Kaolinites

• Haloysites

• Smectites

• Illite

• Chlorite

Through a combination of XRD using Siroquant, SEM imaging and PIMA analyses we were able to quantify the amount of clays in the samples. 

​

Clays are treated with ethylene glycol and heated to 400c and 550c as per USGS guidelines for clay identification.
